The term "Systems" includes all the technological tools you use to automate your processes and workforce, to eliminate errors and drudge work, and to allow your people to focus fully on where they can add the most value.

If your systems are not aligned to your strategy execution, you could be getting bad information on which to base decisions. Maybe your technology systems investments are being misplaced, or misdirected towards the wrong projects. Or perhaps they are simply inadequate to support proper execution of the planned strategy.

Conversely, if strategy is not the key driver to systems, technology and IT expenditure, you may be spending much more than is absolutely necessary to execute your strategy.

Either way, you need to be sure your systems link back to and fully suppport your organisational strategy.
